CCAD’s Business Advisory Council Hosts
Speaker Tom Kelley of IDEO
Renowned speaker discusses the Art of Innovation in today’s business environment

COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 19, 2009—Columbus College of Art & Design’s Business Advisory Council will host Tom Kelley of IDEO, Wednesday, November 4 at 5 p.m. at the Canzani Center Auditorium on the CCAD campus.

Kelley is the general manager of IDEO, the widely admired design and development firm that brought us the Apple mouse, the Palm V and hundreds of cutting edge products and services. He recently published his second book titled The Art of Innovation, which takes readers behind the scenes of IDEO to reveal the strategies it uses to turn out amazing products.

“In today’s business environment, companies are continuing to find ways to set themselves apart, to be more creative and to foster talent,” said Bev Bethge, CCAD trustee and BAC liaison. “Tom will provide great insight into ways to develop a culture of creativity and processes for continuous innovation.”

During this lecture, Kelley will discuss how the art of innovation transcends into today’s business environment. Kelley will specifically address how an organization can foster a culture of creativity and innovation—traits that are becoming more critical in today’s economy.

“According to the Creative Columbus economic inventory report that was released in June, central Ohio’s creative sector generates annually more than $3 billion in total business receipts,” said CCAD President Denny Griffith. “Bringing a speaker of this caliber helps businesses understand that creativity is more than art, it’s a way of thinking and finding new ways to succeed within their industry. We strive to have an ongoing partnership with Central Ohio businesses as our programs greatly impact the community and workforce.”

This program is presented by the CCAD’s Business Advisory Council. The Business Advisory Council (BAC) was founded in 2009 and is a leading advocate and resource for promoting and nurturing the creative economy. The group is comprised of local business leaders, entrepreneurs and key alumni. The event is made possible through the generous sponsorship of The Entrepreneurs’ Organization.

The event is open to all who are interested in attending. Tickets are now available for $100. To register visit www.ccad.edu or call 614.437.1030.
