Picture 1Calling all Columbus Brides to Be!!

The other day while driving down the Short North, I nearly rear-ended a car when I was slightly distracted by a stunning bridal store front window that I had never seen before. I immediately pulled over to get a better look and decided I had to go in and take a quick peek.

Big Rock Little Rooster is located at 654 N. High St. right in the Short North and opened just a few weeks ago. You can’t miss their gorgeous window that is commanding the attention of walkers and drivers alike. The display dresses are from an impressive line of designers including Christos, Vera Wang, Kenneth Pool, Amy Michaelson, and Ramona Keveza. Anyone who knows anything about bridal fashion knows that these are some of the biggest names in the biz.

I was blown away by the array of romantic gowns made from some of the most luxurious fabric in the world. I found my way to a Vera Wang Spring 2010 frock that was fit for ethereal royalty and my eager eyes must have given me away as the store manager Kristin asked me if I wanted to try it on. I did and of course fell in love.

Kristin brought out some shoes, jewelry and a few other accessories to help put together a complete vision with my dream dress. Big Rock Little Rooster offers the services of local jewelry designer , Jamie Linscott, who will work with you to design special custom pieces for you, your dress, or fabulous bridesmaids gifts.

This is a full service bridal salon that offers everything a bride to be could ask for. I had a blast with Kristin gabbing about all things wedding and felt like I left with a new friend. Give them a call (614-754-8116) and schedule an appointment where they will shut down the store for an entire hour just for you and offer you exclusive privacy and service that is unparalleled. You’ll feel like a princess! If you get there in the next 2 weeks you can order a Vera Wang gown and get 10% off!

I was not impressed. Consultants in blue jeans........ give me a break, my mother even made a comment to me during our visit that she was purchasing a 5000.00 wedding dress not shopping at Walmart where that kind of attire would be acceptable if a cashier. Although I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, it was most evident neither blonde or brunette knew how to really cater to us, especially after going to other salons in the area. Hire a real consultant ladies, and step up on your attire if you want sales, this is a big day for us, not a trip to a local retail store.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. I had a great time and loved the girl helping me. She also had mentioned that she was married... The dresses are definitely pricey. I do agree with you on the name... not sure I get it.

Can we all say it together...What a stupid name for a bridal store!! The store is gorgeous, and I loved the dresses. Sadly, my love of the dresses did not make me want to buy one thing. The servise was over the top snobby, and I felt like I was being followed around the store. The owner was in and would NOT let me shop in peace. It was beyond annoying. Although I loved (loved) the merchandise, I would prefer to go somewhere else where I can find the same dress for 1/2 the price and not feel as if I'm being stalked. Apparently those that work there have never been engaged before because if they had bee, they would have given me my space to "browse". Sadly, I felt as if they were breathing down my neck. Not a great experience, and I would suggest to other brides to be to go in, find a dress you like and then hit a discount design store for the EXACT same items but at a 1/4 of the price.

Tigertree1 - Hmmm, sounds like you would have a better name for the store Tigertree? We're waiting for what you think it ought to be named?? I can tell you one thing, you will NOT find the "exact" dress for a 1/4 or 1/2 of the price somewhere else...lol...they are "designer" dresses. Just goes to show how un-informed and ignorant you are to designer fashion. WOW. Sounds like your better off shopping at Davids Bridal or Wal-Mart for your dress. I didn't get that type of service when I was in. I thought the store is amazing and could care less what the name of it is. I had a great experience there and will definitly be back for my dress purchase.
  • Ummmm.....Megan?
I just read your great blog post about this fantastic new Short North bridal salon, and I now want to have the private bridal gown fitting, ya know -- where they shut down the whole store for me for an hour & make me feel like a Princess?
Let's see, maybe DON'T tell sweet Kristin at Big Rock Little Rooster (LOVE the name, btw!) that I'm ALREADY married, and desperately exceed their demo.
Or perhaps I need to renew my vows. Yeah....that's it.
Nah..too much planning. I just wanna renew my bridal gown. A girl can dream, can't she?
Yep, can't wait to see this beautiful store. Even if it's only for fun.
