OK so Potter Fever has been pretty contagious around the country, and I’ve seen it here in Columbus – personally, I’m a Potter-Head (not the marijuana kind) but fellow GCOA writer Kelly Gingery has NEVER seen any of the movies or the books! And I’m sure many of you haven’t, either – but that doesn’t mean you can’t see this movie. Honestly, it stands solid alone.
During seven minutes waiting in line for the screening on Monday, me and Megan try to catch Kelly (and the rest of you) up:
I don’t want to get into a movie review, ’cause that’s Miss Gingery’s job, but I LOVED this movie. I’m usually not a huge fan of the films because I’ve read each of the books 525,600 times and don’t like when the directors alter J.K. Rowlings masterpieces. And this movie is VERY altered – scenes are ADDED, a lot is missing, of course (and it’s still 2:45) BUT I understand all of the edits. Nothing seems out of place. And there’s only one major thing I found in this movie that changes the seventh movie. And that’s saying something, since the past five movies have left so much out that I have no idea how they plan to end this. (Not really. I can see how they can write out the detail that makes the series fantastic. But still)
Anyway, I give Half-Blood Prince an A. I’d give the rest of the movies a B- or lower, if that tells you anything.
But hey, even though Kelly knew nothing about Potter, we went to the screening in style:
